Once the envy of the world, Britain’s education system has become debased by liberal Marxist dogma. Exams have been dumbed down to the point where potential employers are dubious even of university degrees. We need to restructure the entire educational system in such a way that it nurtures the potential of our children, and allows equality of opportunity as opposed to enforcing an equality of outcome by ‘dumbing down’ all children to the same level.
Subjects taught at school have little bearing on preparing a child for life in the real world. Citizenship classes, for example, are nothing more than political indoctrination aimed at getting pupils to look at the world with a globalist perspective and which seeks to bend their minds into accepting politically correct dogma. We intend to replace citizenship classes with British Citizenship Classes which promote British culture, integration and pride in the past achievements of the British people, and which will not be used as a way to ‘condition’ young people into rejecting their own identity. Technical skills and the hard sciences, which are of value to the child and the nation, will be promoted.
The introduction of fees for university pupils has resulted in many students being excluded from the higher education system because of a lack of family money to support them while the banks rake in high interest on student loans. We will scrap university fees for students and offer study loans to encourage pupils into sectors such as science, engineering and trades skills that will form the basis of our expansion in the industrial and manufacturing industries.
Discipline is such that many teachers are afraid of confronting a class, having no powers to chastise bad behaviour. Corporal punishment will be introduced under the supervision of parents who will be required to attend any such punishment of their children. The British Freedom Party will:
1. Re-introduce grammar schools with entrance exams at aged 11. Those children who fail their Grammar School entrance exams will be placed in technical schools where they will be taught trades and skills that will equip them for the world of work.
2. Introduce technical schools with emphasis on vocational training for those with a lower academic attainment level.
3. Reintroduce school uniforms and stricter exams such as the tried and tested GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels and Higher Nationals
4. Require all schools to hold morning Christian ecumenical assemblies for Christian children whilst the children of non-Christian communities will be given the choice of attending those assemblies or attending lessons in class.
5. Require all schools, whether state, private or faith based, to teach British Citizenship classes which promote British culture, integration and the history of Britain. Schools which fail to teach British Citizenship classes will be closed.
6. Establish traditional literary and mathematical skills to replace the failed modern teaching methods.
7. Introduce a full programme of British history to enable our young people to grow up with pride in their nation’s achievements.
8. Restore grants to university students reading proper science subjects (Not politically oriented social sciences).
9. Outlaw ritually slaughtered meat in school meals.
10. Introduce “Outward Bound” activities taught by properly certified people with qualifications such as ‘Mountain Leader’ certificates.
11. Encourage co-operation between universities and the Ministry of Defence in setting up OCTU’s.
12. Support the performing arts under the auspices of an Arts Council.
13. Outlaw the teaching of sex education to children below the age of 13.
